The Dog House - Website Design & Local SEO
Update the existing website for The Dog House to improve the user experience and flow through the website to view the information and to also implement changes to improve local SEO.
Client Overview
Nestled in the locale of Worplesdon, Surrey (near Guildford, Pirbright, and Woking), is The Dog House, a dog grooming salon. Owned and run by Donna, the boutique dog grooming salon provides exceptional grooming and teeth cleaning services where the dogs are treated on a one-to-one basis and cared for as though they are part of the family.
However, Donna observed that her website didn't wholly reflect the grooming services that she offered and the level of personal care that she takes with each and every dog that visits. It was at the start of the year that she decided changes were needed—changes that would showcase her broad range of services, enhance user navigation, and improve the website's local search engine performance.
The Existing Website: Room for Enhancement
At first glance, the existing website was visually appealing but fell short in offering in-depth details about their vast array of services, notably dog grooming and canine teeth cleaning. User navigation was yet another area that needed attention, ensuring a seamless, intuitive user journey. Further, from a SEO viewpoint, the website was underutilised, particularly when it came to local SEO performance and the use of alt tags for images. Although these might seem like minor adjustments, they are paramount for enhancing website accessibility and improving the website's visibility in search engine results.
The Solution
The website was rebuilt whilst maintaining its existing brand, look, and feel using the Bootstrap coding framework. The Bootstrap framework is revered for its standardised design and coding conventions. With its mobile-first approach, Bootstrap ensures a responsive, seamless experience across different devices. This meant that when a user accessed The Dog House website from their smartphone or desktop, the user experience remained consistent. Bootstrap's commitment to web accessibility guidelines elevated the website user experience, while its modular and lightweight structure significantly increased the speed and performance of the website, leading to lower bounce rates and enhanced user engagement.
Revamping the Content
Brand-specific, focused, and SEO-rich content was at the heart of this digital overhaul. With a content strategy centred around keyword optimisation, the website content was rewritten to incorporate prominent keywords around the "dog grooming" and "teeth cleaning" services that she offers, as well as location-specific terms crucial to the local areas the salon served. This focused, local SEO approach is intended to increase website visibility in local search engine results, seamlessly connect local clientele to their needed services, and ultimately boost conversions.
The Outcome
While it might still be early to measure the full impact of the redesign in terms of numbers, the polished, intuitive, and SEO-optimised website indeed marks a promising start for The Dog House's enhanced digital footprint. The new site now stands not just as a digital platform but as a comprehensive extension of the salon—a space where users can explore services, understand their processes, and connect with the brand on a deeper level.
This project highlights the transformative power of targeted website enhancements, from aesthetic upgrades to backend optimisations. The revamped website of The Dog House stands testament to how small changes can add up to a big difference—revitalising the way a brand interacts and evolves in the digital landscape.
We look forward to seeing how these changes play out in their digital performance over the upcoming months. Stay tuned as we trace the journey of The Dog House's burgeoning digital success story.
