Places to visit around the South Downs

There are some wonderful places to visit In and around the South Downs National Park. Here are a few of ours:

Located on the outskirts of West Sussex town Petworth is Petworth House. Now belonging to the National Trust it has a wonderful house to visit and there are wonderful walks in the 700-acre deer park. Recently it has been one of the locations for the filming of Ridley Scott’s film Napoleon.

Located just outside Petersfield…. Sky Park Farm is a Deer Park, Farm Shop, Restaurant, Picnic Grounds and Adventure playground.

Superb place to pop in for coffee, pick up some venison from the butcher in the farm shop and have an excellent Sunday lunch. You can even feed the deer…

It is an open-air museum located in West Sussex, with a collection of over 50 historic buildings, they have been carefully dismantled, conserved, and reconstructed at the museum. Oh, and it’s home to the BBC’s ‘The Repair Shop’…

Petersfield is a market town in East Hampshire. It has a lovely market square with market days on Wednesdays and Saturdays. There is a farmer’s market on the first Sunday of the month. Petersfield is an excellent base to explore the Shipwrights Way and the South Downs beyond.

Cowdry Estate is an excellent place to go for a walk with the dog at the weekend. It also has a farm shop, Cafe and the famous Cowdry Polo Club.
